At MurphyEpson, Earth Day is more than just a date on the calendar – it's a reminder of the responsibility we all share to care for the place we call home. It’s also a moment to reflect on the work we do every day with forward-thinking clients and partners who share our commitment to sustainability, innovation and equity.
From water to transit to clean energy, our projects are helping shape a more resilient and connected Ohio — and beyond.
We’re proud to support Blueprint Columbus, a nationally-recognized model for smarter stormwater solutions, with engagement, marketing, design and more. In Columbus, heavy rain can overwhelm our sewer system, causing untreated wastewater to overflow into our rivers and streams. By implementing neighborhood-scale green infrastructure such as rain gardens, this nature-forward initiative filters rainwater through layers of stone, soil and plants before it enters the pipes that drain into our rivers. Not only do these rain gardens beautify our neighborhoods, but they also assist in restoring the health of our waterways.
As Central Ohio grows, so must the ways we move. We’ve worked closely with Central Ohio Transit Authority (COTA), the City of Columbus, Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission, Franklin County and other regional partners to make LinkUS a transformative force in sustainable mobility. Through meaningful community engagement and new tools like augmented reality – which allows residents to experience bus rapid transit before it is built – we’re helping bring future-forward transportation to life. This is just one example of empowering all voices to helps the Columbus Region grow better as it grows bigger.
In places like The Beta District and with partners like the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT), DriveOhio and the Transportation Research Center (TRC), we’re helping elevate the work of people building the next generation of connected, automated and electric mobility. From brand development to equity-focused event series like Mobility in Color, we’re not only increasing visibility – we’re helping shape inclusive conversations around innovation and access.
We’re lucky to work with clients like the Ohio Air Quality Development Authority (OAQDA), Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR), City of Dublin, Northeast Ohio Areawide Coordinating Agency (NOACA) and the Franklin County Sanitary Engineer – organizations actively building smarter systems and prioritizing sustainable futures. Whether it's advancing clean air, protecting green space or planning the future of sustainable, regional transit, our role is to help translate complex work into clear, actionable messages that move people and policy forward.
MurphyEpson is a proud member of GreenSpot, a City of Columbus initiative that helps individuals, businesses and organizations adopt sustainable practices. With over 23,000 members, GreenSpot provides a simple way to make a real difference – reducing emissions, conserving water and increasing recycling efforts throughout the region. It’s not just about going green; it’s about building a healthier, more sustainable future for Columbus.
Earth Day is a celebration, but it’s also a call to keep going 365 days of the year. At MurphyEpson, we’re energized by our role in making sustainability not just a value, but a practice. We believe that powerful design, clear communication and strong partnerships can lead to systems that serve people and the planet – not just now, but for generations to come.
Here’s to continuing the work, together.
Happy Earth Day! 💚
